Chicago Marathon, I'm Going To Slaughter You.
While I still await Carey Pinkowski's reply, I've nonetheless not waited and have take the opportunity to sign up for my 2nd of the 5 MAJOR Marathons this year.
Result?
While it was of no fault of my own or of that of the Chicago Marathon that I was running this race, while my mother died, I will be running hard, strong, and looking to KICK ULTIMATE ASS on this day. Persistence, Prudence, and Patience will be the 3 P's. And for the race itself? I wish to inflict upon its course, a fourth "P". PAIN.
Welcome new month...
It's been awhile since I post news that you can use. Blogs are supposed to be about one's own self, but it can also be a powerful tool to advertise and educate as well.
For the month of February, and as my Runner's World Magazine suggests, I think I will start working on strengthening my core. Given my limited ability to spend time with wifey and the twins in tow, this might mean cutting back on some time spent for mileage.
This, taken from Runner's World:
TRAINING
"Test yourself to see how steely strong your abs are, get into a plank position with elbows, forearms, and toes on the ground and back flat. Hold the position and jump them back together. That's one rep. Do as many as you can without stopping. Your goal is 20 to 30. If you can do 40-plus reps, you're bionic.
FUEL
Get Enough D. If you're inside running on the treadmill, you may have low levels of vitamin D, essential for calcium absorption. If you think you're at risk, take a vitamin D supplement containing 1,000 US's.
EXERCISE
When I run tonight, it will mark FIFTEEN consecutive days. 15 days. 5 more to go to get to my record. Can I do it? Will mother nature, injury, private life, work, etal, stop me?
